Evil wipes itself out, when left to its own devices.
Have you ever noticed what advice smart parents give to their kids when approached about how to deal with a bully? “Just ignore him, dear.” That’s actually advice that can be used throughout all of life. Evil is constantly looking for entertainment. When it is not provided, it goes elsewhere.
Do you remember when Jesus was taken into custody by the authorities of his time? One of the apostles fights back, and cuts off an ear from one of the soldiers. Jesus picks the ear up, and puts it right back where it was. He dealt with evil in the best way possible, with a healing touch.
In high school I was a very big guy. Sometimes big guys become a target for violence. In my case I made the mistake of fighting back some times. The choice was correct in some instances, but not in others. Once I fought back to keep a much smaller friend from being picked on. Once I fought back just because of how angry I was. Two distinctly different situations. One was valid, the other was not. The second situation could have been avoided if I could have relaxed myself and walked away.
Do you know why countries have armies? We feel like we can’t trust each other. There has been so much evil perpetrated in the past, that we feel we have good reason to pick up the biggest gun we can find, and wave it around at the world, as if that helps things. The best way to rid the world of violence would be to disband the armies, and put some trust out there. If the USA and other powerful nations were to make gestures like that, God would not only shower blessings on all of us, but He might throw the devil into the pit of fire sooner rather than later.
I do not enjoy dealing with evil. I walk through my day, seeing demons here and there. My choice is usually to “displace” them, aka push them somewhere else, so that they cause less havoc and spend their time confused rather than making trouble. Any good Christian can do this kind of work. I did not win some contest in order to get into this. I just spent a few decades on this earth observing how intelligent Christians deal with the devil. They don’t fight him. They confuse him. They show him a side of themselves that he does not really understand. While he is busy analyzing our actions, he loses a little piece of his effectiveness. His power diminishes when he cannot properly digest peaceful actions.
Take a minute to ask yourself how you deal with evil situations and people. Then ask God to show you how to “heal the soldier’s ear”, not only once, but in every circumstance where evil seems to be winning. I love walking through this world, showing evil the error of their ways. And in return, they scatter, because they will never truly understand my approach.
