Years ago I realized that if I could not survive regardless of the challenge, then I was not learning anything at all. After all, what is knowledge worth if it does not provide value in reality? I wanted to be the guy who always figured out the problem. You could call it a mix between MacGyver and James Bond. I wanted to be the "go to" guy. Mr.Clutch. The guy who took the final shot.
So for twelve years I've been outfitting people with the kind of help that would do the same for them. Even though I'm not perfect and cannot escape EVERY problem, a la Houdini, I have found a certain higher wisdom by teaching others how to deal with THEIR problems. I realized that lots of people in the world do not have the basics figured out. Thankfully to my generous country, family, and God, I can steer them toward success. Now that's what I do each day.
I'm not 73, or 53. I'm 33. I'm a younger guy who has fought through plenty, thanks to bipolar disorder and all the painful fun it creates. I feel that it has "sharpened my saw", as Stephen Covey says. I seem to be able to figure out the pressure points in certain challenges. If you have been chasing something for a while, trying to figure out the best strategy to use, I (or my army of experts) can probably help.
Now I spend my days coaching and referring other folks to coaching experts. I enjoy the job! I am not rich because of it, quite the contrary. But I am pleased with how I'm spending my time. Another few months of this and the old cube job may never get me again. Helping folks from the comfort of my home office is hard to beat!
