There is a distinct difference between the east coast of the US and the west coast. The east coast spends a decent amount of time covered with snow every winter, but the west coast, especially California, barely sees it. So, who is better off?
Well, there are a few ways to look at it. Certain activities require snow. Some of them are really fun and exciting. So without the snow and cold you miss out on them. Also, certain people consider snow to be quite beautiful, and also fun for kids. These are definitely pluses. Snow....a natural dichotomy. Some people hate it so much after years of shoveling that they would rather live on another planet, if it meant getting away from the snow.
Jesus is the same way. People are at both ends of the spectrum. Some love Him, some hate Him, some are ambivalent. Why the wide spectrum of opinions? Well, the real information on Jesus just does not flow through the mainstream media the way the latest big serial killing does. Scary, huh? The world would rather talk about death and destruction, because they perceive Christian faith as yesterday's news.
I feel that there is a real lack of communication going on today. Even with the Internet, it seems like Christianity is taken for granted. Roughly a quarter of the planet believe in Christ, but if you grab four people off the street, it is possible that the lone Christian would not admit he's a believer. Quite frightening!
What do we do to fix the situation? Time to come out of the closet, folks! Time to start wearing the crosses and the t-shirts. You can go to church all you want, but where we really need you is on Main Street, proclaiming your faith and witnessing to anyone who will listen. It is hard to talk proudly about your faith, almost because of the nature of faith. No one has a miracle they can pull out of their pocket. But you know what? You can create a miraculous environment, where miracles are almost guaranteed to occur. Treat people well, talk often about our Savior, and never let an opportunity pass you by!
We only get one run, folks. You are probably not coming back here, at least not in this form. Get your licks in on the devil while you can. There is no reason to leave the job to someone who may not do it as well as YOU!
