Obviously, if you have been to a church recently, you have been around people who are actively pursuing a relationship with Christ. However, some of these folks will voluntarily talk about how they don't feel like they are "succeeding" with that quest. What's the explanation? Why does God seem elusive to some and everywhere to others? Habits.
How do you spend your days? What do you do during the week? Oftentimes the way we spend our time reflects on how we feel about our relationship with Christ. Before you label that as petty, let me point out a few things.
Do you spend your days doing things that are fun? Are you on good terms with the people in your life that matter? Do you have enough money to do the kind of stuff in life that is important to you? Why did you wake up this morning? What is your purpose today? Do you even have one?
You see, folks, our connection with ourselves and the world around us must be somewhat intact in order for us to experience value in our lives. It is extremely tough to go through life on Earth in continual pain, and still feel good about God's position in our life. Obviously there are gifted people who can reach through all the challenges and display amazing faith at any given time, but I tend to think they are in the minority.
So what should you do? What's the best course to take in order to get on that road to God? Well, the answer is different for everybody, but as I've told you many times before, start by serving others and creating a ministry that is important to you. Even if it is just sending notes to sick kids, or adopting a needy pet...that is still extremely important in God's eyes. Listen, the VOLUME of the service you provide DOES NOT MATTER to God. He is SOLELY interested in your INTENT and EFFORT. So...try to please Him...and don't hold back.
