Your prayers did one thing and one thing alone - they alerted God.
Prayers have gotten way too complex. People set up these long and complex prayers, expecting deliverance from a number of different problems. They set up healing prayers, and achievement prayers, and financial prayers. The expectation is that God will immediately jump on it, and produce the desired result. This is completely and totally untrue.
I will tell you that your prayers DO work. They just don’t work as you might think. They tug on God’s ear. That brings His attention into play. And that is where everything stops. The whole process halts. Anything you might have mentioned gets tossed away, or magnified, according to God’s perfect judgement. Then, His actions either don’t happen at all, or they start their motion.
If He chooses to do nothing at all, well, His perfect judgement led to that, and all is well and good anyway. After all, if that’s what He decided, that’s what He decided, and it was the right decision. If He starts His actions, well, anything at all might happen. There is no way to tell. He might absolutely and completely and miraculously tear down all kinds of walls, move all kinds of angels and people, and start doing incredible stuff. But the interesting thing about God is that what you might have asked for, and what He produces, could be so different that there is no way to even recognize it was Him.
Do you see those invisible beings that the bible has labelled as angels? Can you tell when the arms and legs of God are moving? If you can’t, then you are just like the rest of us, completely and totally clueless as to the motions of our invisible God. You can have a relationship with Him. You can talk to Him all day, all week, all year. But one thing you will never master, is the ability to completely witness all of His actions in this world.
God is not here to save your life, or make it easier, or end the world. I’ll tell you what He is here for. He is here to experience the joy of creation. And He does it by cherishing His children, and teaching them to be like Him.
God is God, yes. But God is also YOU. He is your father. And He always will be!
