Ever wonder how you get through certain days?
Tonight I was watching Game 4 of the National League Championship Series. In the middle of the game, when things were up in the air, the commentators started focusing on something. Over and over again they mentioned how the San Francisco Giants had not scored more than three runs in over a month. That’s very strange for a pro baseball team, especially one so close to the World Series. Well, apparently no one told the Giants, because they turned in six runs to win, led by a rookie who plays like a fifteen year veteran.
I tell my daughter routinely that she can do anything. She can succeed at anything she wants to succeed at. She can help anyone she wants to help. She can talk to God whenever she wants (and He’ll listen). My daughter may only be five years old, but she walks around as confidently as any twelve year old. That is how we should all be.
My life was a pretty confident one. I never saw too many barriers. I was a little bit awkward when I was younger, but I grew out of it soon enough. As an adult I can move the wheels when needed. I can get through my days, in successful fashion, even though my enemies battle me at every turn. But with Jesus, my strength is HIS strength.
That’s why He’s in our lives. He’s here to drive home those points that we just would not pick up on without Him. He tells us, He shows us, He teaches us, and He protects us. With Him lifting us up we can talk to God whenever we like. We can send blessings and miracles at every situation and person we choose. We can move in this world as if God Himself was walking next to us, BECAUSE HE DOES!
This is a weird place. It is full of traps and addictions and killers and liars....the problems just don’t stop. But our strength combined with God’s strength mean we have nothing to fear. So we must move in this place as if the doors will open automatically. We must make strong showings to the world, displaying Christianity’s true nature. The world is packed with destroyed people, and we must lift them up so that their lives can bless others the way ours do.
I’m a big fan of quiet moments. In your quiet moment today, ask the Lord to show you what your hidden strength is. The sooner it is revealed to you, the faster you can become even more effective in this place we call the world.
