…...might possibly be the worst quote of all time.
Jesus did not live that way. Christ took more risks than anyone. He was a celebrity, folks. Everyone in His portion of the world knew about Him, and the miracles He provided. He only worked for a few years, with the majority of his ministry occurring within the last year and a half of His life. He was crucified at 33. Do you understand the massive amount of risks He took?
Folks....He knew what He was getting into. You should too. If you came into this adult life, planning on not taking risks, why are you here? Have you ever wondered what amazing stuff happens when you throw out the rulebook? Love happens, fun happens, success happens. You don’t get any of that if you play it safe. And salvation is not a safe thing either. Try accepting it, you’ll see that the average human brain rejects the concept. You will have to work for many, many years before you really appreciate the promise of salvation.
My life has been packed with risks. I take on tremendous risk just by walking out my front door. Why? Demons can see me. They see me differently than most others. Why? Because I wipe this world clean of demons. How? Ask God for the talent to do that. It is quite the adventure.
My friends are entertained by me. They look at my massively outward Christianity, and then ask me why I’m not in church every single day. I tell them that the folks who really need my help are not in the churches. They are on the streets. They don’t know right from wrong. They need me to come in and blow the doors off their beliefs so they can have a chance at a better life, not just here on Earth, but with our Father in heaven.
Folks, I really, really love you! I work very hard for you every single day. My God is your God, and for that I am eternally grateful. Do me a wondrous favor and dump “better safe than sorry” from your memory banks. Next time you think about the risks involved in a situation, remember our Savior knocking down the moneychanger’s tables in the temple; or the Good Samaritan helping the gentleman on the side of the road; or Joseph, the holy father, knowingly agreeing to raise the son of God. All of these choices took tremendous courage. Your life should contain the same.
Take a chance once in a while! Step out of your comfort zone. Build a better world, not only here on Earth, but with the rest of our family in heaven.
