Avoiding evil

What’s the common thread? All of it starts as harmless fun.

I was almost pulled into drugs when I was in my late teens. A cute, fun, smart girl I had a crush on smoked marijuana, and I wanted to get into her “social circle”. BUT, through a strange coincidence, I never touched the stuff. Most are not that lucky.

Have you ever looked at friends as they start going down a bad path, and you notice certain things. Their thinking really does change! They ignore lots of good advice. They spend time doing things that seem absolutely ridiculous. In general they destroy their good relationships and start creating bad ones. The list goes on and on....

I’m bipolar, some of you know that. Because of a bad episode at age 18 I was arrested after hitting a doctor. Sounds crazy, right? Well, that’s what it was. I was going crazy. So fortunately I did not go to jail. I was forgiven by the court after promising to continue living with my parents for a while. Bipolar is also one of life’s big temptations. People that really suffer from it sometimes start to enjoy the highs so much that they stop taking meds, stop therapy, and ignore advice from friends and family. I truly believe that it can be a terribly evil influence. Right now it is accountable for between 30-40% of the prison population, and 20% of bipolar people kill themselves. Surprised? It really is a blight on the world.

Folks...there is a way to escape the demons. There’s a way to change your entire bad journey. And there is only one single thing that can do it quickly, efficiently, and effectively. Ask Jesus for help! Ask Him for help every hour if you have to. You might want to go to church if you can manage it. Some can, some can’t. But that’s not as big a deal as just telling God that you are open to His instruction. I absolutely positively could not have gotten through my problems without Him. He became the key point in my life. I never, ever looked back.

God will bring you to helpful people. God will supply good jobs, and good health. The miracles will fly through your life in unending fashion. He makes sure that all of His children are taken care of, and regardless of how down on your luck you are, He will lift you up with a speed that will shock you.

I love God. I love Christ! I will be shouting that from the top of the mountain until my dying day. If you can get yourself into that groove, then you have absolutely nothing to worry about. If you have trouble taking those steps, start by hanging around healthy people. Even if you are only making small, baby steps each day, God will help you. I will help you. The miracles will be generous.

God creates u-turns. Jesus is THE MASTER of u-turns. Give Him a chance and He’ll return the favor!
