For a few years I have had a supplemental mission that I've been working on for the Lord. I call it my joy mission.
Lots of people have this very strange perspective on service. They think it is work, work, work, sacrifice, sacrifice, sacrifice. Pain now, heaven later. I can not even express to you how incorrect this is.
Jesus is about JOY!!! You should be ENJOYING your days, even if you're at work. If you hate your job....GET OUT!!! Find a joyful way to spend your day, even if it means less money or less prestige. God's most important lesson is that we must savor any joy we can get. That is because He very well might have an extremely challenging job for us after this life. So live it up while you're here, in a place where joy can be had.
I explore the concept of jobs after this life in a book I wrote called Angel Interviews. My theory is that God's best servants don't really stop serving. You might get a vacation here and there, but REAL servants derive ALL OF THEIR JOY...from serving the Almighty. They are AT THEIR BEST...when working on missions for the Lord. This makes plenty of sense to me, and I get a lot of agreement on this. Do you, as a servant, really want to bask in heaven....if God needs you to take care of something important? Of course not. And part of the greater understanding is that you TAKE THE HEAVEN WITH YOU....while you working.
Folks...I love you like crazy. I really do. Take these small little messages to heart. They really do work. They really are simple. And I can usually give you more information in three or four paragraphs than you might get in a 30 minute speech on Sunday.
