Wonder what I’m talking about? I’m talking about talking about. This is a message regarding how you verbalize your faith.
I spout it quite a bit. Not to everyone, but definitely a few. I try to talk about God routinely. I love to show folks my cross that I wear each day. Going over theology is fun for me. I routinely get into debates about the existence of God and all the adventures in the world. I try to direct things. I try to move the conversation where I want it to go. I relish the communication. How does this connect with the Lord?
God speaks to you! He speaks to all faithful Christians. The trick is to funnel that communication from your soul to your mouth. Lots of Christians say they talk to God, but can never really repeat sentences when asked. That is actually a significant problem. If you have trouble going over your faith with someone you are talking to, then you will only be as effective as a young child. You will be able to tell people you love God, but you won’t really be able to understand why.
It’s a long lonely road from here to the hereafter. I’m sure you would like to believe that you are riding with a group of Christians, with Jesus in the lead. But when you are on your death bed or in your foxhole, you will feel all alone. That’s not because God has left you. Its because your circumstances have overwhelmed you, and that’s natural. The best thing to do with your life, in order to avoid that problem, is to get used to the Godly discussion. Get used to talking about Him. Get used to sharing Him. Then when the nurse comes in, or your buddy gets shot in a war, you can turn to them and properly enunciate your feelings about the Lord and why you follow Jesus.
