I received an interesting phone call today. It was not a local area code, so I started explaining about the ministry and what we offer. However, I soon learned that the caller was a nearby college student. She had found me on the Internet while searching for religious groups in Sacramento.
It is not every day that I get a call like this. Actually, it never happens. But here she was, asking if I was open to an interview tomorrow. I told her that would be fine and that I was looking forward to it. After all, what evangelist does not want a bigger audience?
The moral of the story is that if you make it your goal to grow your ministry and get the word out about what you offer....God will find a way. With ministries you don't really work for yourself, you work for God. Sure, some ministers require a salary because it is a full time job, but there are lots of folks in the world who are part-timers and do it for the love of doing it.
Some of you might have talked to my wonderful friend Ian in Toronto. He heads up a great group called Testifying Jesus' Love in Truth. The site is www.tjlit.org. He is a prime example of how the power of Christ can begin to take shape, and then gain traction and make a huge difference in the world. Twice this year Ian was interviewed for Chinese TV. CHINESE TV!!! They were curious about how altruistic organizations really work and what kind of help they offer. You can see those spots on the www.tjilt.org website. The whole thing is very impressive and I am proud to call Ian a ministry partner.
Start your own ministry, regardless of what it does or how many people it reaches! When Jesus is in the driver's seat, the right thing ALWAYS happens!
