I guess you could say I've been chasing it all my life.
For many years now I've been trying to find a mainstream way to distribute my books. I have seven of them, written mainly in my twenties. I enjoyed writing them, but kind of ran out of gas because I could never find a publisher. It looks like that is about to change.
Earlier this year, I stumbled on a website that really impressed me. The style, the heart, the effort that went into it...I was blown away! Thankfully there was a contact section. I emailed the creator and told her that I would be sending as many users as I could. Soon after, we chatted on the phone and I was even more impressed! As it turned out, even though she could have lived anywhere in the world...she was just an hour away.
A month later we had lunch. Lisa was what I expected in some ways, and a surprise in others. She has tremendous faith, but more challenges than I might have thought, for a woman who created such a powerful website. The way with which she handled her life, and her faith...I came to be friends with her quite quickly. Soon after, I made her an offer. If she can track down a real publishing deal for my most popular book, I would gladly give her half the profits. In truth, I felt that was a small concession, since I had been trying for years and never gotten anywhere.
A few days ago Lisa sent me an email that blew me away! A deal would be forthcoming, and she was willing to saddle the bulk of the risk since I was the one supplying the material. I immediately called her up and gushed profusely about how excited I was and how awesome God was for putting us together to get this done. As I think about all of it now, I can see His handwriting all over the situation. Of all the cities in the world that Lisa could have lived in, she was just an hour from mine.
I think about my blessings quite a bit. My friends, my family, the various incredible gifts God has blessed me with. And nothing surprises me more than the never ending nature of them. He continues to roll them out, one after another, almost on a minute-to-minute basis.
