Are you a creator or reactor?

There are two kinds of people, those that create their reality and those that allow others to do it. I call the first creators and the second reactors. Which is best? Do we all do both? Is it better to be 70/30 or 50/50? Here is the lowdown as I have come to understand it over time.

There are a number of things that alter your creator/reactor balance. Health is probably the biggest, followed by relationships, spirituality, and finances, not necessarily in that order. Working life to build your success hinges on jumping from one role to the other at the right time, making sure to maintain the success you had before while not putting too much of it at risk.

I consider myself to be about a 60/40. Part of the reason it is not tipped more in the creator bucket is because I'm a family man, I will always be one, and that requires a very large bit of reacting, but that is okay. Obligations will do that to everyone. I simply inject as much creation into the process as I can, in order to keep things fresh and interesting.

How does this connect to Jesus? What do you think He was? What was His ratio? I think most of you would say creator, but I also would consider the environment He ministered in as requiring Him to be a reactor when required, such as calming the storm and tipping over the traders' tables in the temple. Obviously He was also busy creating things, such as the structure of His church and the relationships He had with the apostles. A leader MUST have a certain amount of creator going on, because without it there are never unique ideas and solutions, which is the key ingredient for a successful leader.

Take a look at your life and those around you. Try to evaluate their ratio. Then adjust your approach so that their balance works well with yours. It is simply a better world when people are working well with each other, and creator/reactor balances are a big part of that.
